This was the second time in Alexander's career he recorded a pair of complete game wins in the same day, one of three pitchers since 1900 to accomplish such a feat multiple times (Ed Walsh - CWS, Joe McGinnity - NYG).
21-year-old Dick Allen takes left field in Milwaukee's County Stadium for his Major League debut, doubling in the 7th inning of a 2-0 win over the Braves. Across 9 seasons with the Phillies, Allen collected 204 doubles and 204 homers on the way to over 1100 hits in red pinstripes.
