Philly native Mike Koplove throws a scoreless inning-and-a-third for the Diamondbacks in a 9-5 loss to San Fran 14 years before the Phillies would draft his son, Kenny, in the 17th round of the 2015 draft. Kenny was the 2012 PA State Player of the Year, 3x 1st Team All-State, 3x 1st Team All-Inter Ac, and 2009 Inter Ac MVP (as a freshman) at Penn Charter before going to Duke where he'd start 143 games at shortstop and set Duke's single-season save record as a closer in 2015 (11 saves).

In 1995...
Cal Ripken Jr. becomes the MLB's Iron Man, playing in his 2,131st consecutive game and passing Lou Gehrig's 56 year long record. Ripken Jr. would extend his record, playing in 501 more games without missing a single one thanks to a convenient 1997 power outage in Baltimore while Ripken dealt with Crash Davis (hope he hit him with his left hand).

In 2014...
Brandon Finnegan debuts for the Royals, throwing 2 scoreless innings in a 6-2 loss to the Yankees. Finnegan, who was drafted 17th overall while leading TCU to the 2014 College World Series, would remain on the Royals playoff roster through their AL pennant winning run, becoming the first player in MLB history to pitch in the CWS and the MLB World Series in the same season.
